Maintain Your Healthy Lifestyle during the Holidays

Every fall is the same – the holidays season starts and you’re thinking “this year I will eat healthier and keep my workout routines going” etc. and before you know it, you will find yourself on the couch after the Thanksgiving feast and can barely move your own body. But it really can be different – should you only plan your moves and stick to the plan? Here are a few tips to help you prepare your mindset to maintain your healthy lifestyle during the holidays.

Eat Regularly

We know how it goes, on holidays you barely eat until the holiday meal. You arrive at the holiday table almost starving, ready to dive in and eat everything on the table. So, this year you will eat what you normally eat, which means breakfast and even a small snack for noon. That way, you won’t be starving and it will be easier for you to control the portions you eat. You can enjoy the holiday meal – small portions are the key. Also, avoid unhealthy foods during the holiday meal – you don’t have to eat everything on the table literally.

Keep Working Out

During the holidays it is harder to keep your workout routine going. And it is ok. Try to keep up with as many workouts as possible–every workout counts! If you miss a workout due to the holiday, schedule another instead. Don’t neglect your training, it is a slippery road. Many people allow themselves to skip more and more workouts just because they’ve missed one workout. Don’t do that – instead, work out harder for the next workout.

The holiday season is supposed to be a time when you enjoy time with your family and friends, but it doesn’t mean it must come at the expense of your health. Keep your healthy lifestyle routine going during the holidays and you will enjoy it so much more!
