An essential part of skin care is exfoliating, which should be a part of any skincare routine. Exfoliating offers many benefits to our skin’s health, it cleans it deeply and allows the skin to breathe and absorb more hydration, but only if conducted correctly and at the right frequency for your skin. And so today, we’ll talk about how often you should exfoliate your skin.
Exfoliating Frequency
Exfoliating is a bit aggressive when compared to other skin-caring actions. Therefore, it is an action that should be done carefully. It is not too aggressive, so there’s nothing to worry about, but it is essential to be familiar with it. The thing is that exfoliating is scrubbing our skin, and if your skin is more sensitive, then it may cause redness. So, the best thing to do is start very gently and see how your skin reacts to it. If the skin gets too red and irritated, stop exfoliating and allow your skin to heal before exfoliating again. If there’s only light redness to your skin after exfoliating, it is normal and should pass shortly (in a few hours). If the reaction is normal, you can start by exfoliating twice a week. You can add more days as you feel your skin needs it.
Dry Brushing
Dry brushing is kind of exfoliating the skin but a little more aggressively. That is why it isn’t suited for any skin type, and should you have sensitive skin, you should try it very gently, to begin with, to see if it suits your skin. The key is to be aware of your skin’s sensitivity and not to force exfoliating because it is part of your skincare routine, but do it gently and go from there according to your skin’s reaction.
